Description
The Modern Datejust, Built on Rolex’s Founding Innovation
The Rolex Datejust changed watchmaking forever in 1945 as the first self-winding wristwatch to automatically display the date in a window on the dial — the very feature that gives the model its name. Reference 126300 is the current-generation expression of that legacy: the all-steel, smooth-bezel Datejust 41 introduced in 2017 as the successor to the earlier Datejust II. This particular example, produced in 2020, has been gently worn and presents in very good condition.
904L Oystersteel Case and Smooth Bezel
The 126300 is the purest expression of the modern Datejust 41 silhouette: with no gold accents, no fluted bezel, and no two-tone construction, the watch reads as a clean, monolithic steel piece that sits squarely between sport and dress territory. The smooth, polished domed bezel is the defining design choice — while most Datejust references rely on the fluted gold bezel as their signature, the smooth steel bezel here gives the watch a more contemporary, understated character that pairs naturally with everything from a suit to a t-shirt. The 41mm Oyster case itself is meaningfully refined compared to the earlier Datejust II, with thinner lugs and a slimmer, more graceful overall profile. A sapphire crystal with Cyclops lens protects the dial, and the Twinlock crown system seals the case to 100 meters of water resistance.
The Black Dial
The full stainless steel Datejust 41 is offered exclusively with stick-index hour markers, and the black dial is one of the most versatile options in the catalog — clean, high-contrast, and equally suited to a business setting or off-duty wear. Polished stick markers and hands sit against the deep black surface, with the date displayed at 3 o’clock beneath the signature Cyclops magnifying lens.
The Jubilee Bracelet
This example is fitted to Rolex’s five-piece-link Jubilee bracelet, originally created in 1945 specifically for the launch of the Datejust and considered its most historically significant pairing. The Jubilee bracelet adds a dressier, more refined profile to the watch while the smooth bezel keeps its character modern and understated, finished with the Oysterclasp and Easylink 5mm comfort extension for quick on-wrist adjustment.
Powered by Caliber 3235
Inside the case sits the Caliber 3235, Rolex’s current-generation movement featuring a 70-hour power reserve and the proprietary Chronergy escapement, which improves energy efficiency while offering strong resistance to magnetic interference. The movement runs on a blue Parachrom hairspring made from a zirconium-niobium alloy, virtually unaffected by magnetic fields and temperature swings, paired with Paraflex shock absorbers for added resilience against impact. Like every modern Rolex caliber, the 3235 carries Superlative Chronometer certification, guaranteeing accuracy within -2/+2 seconds per day.
Condition & What’s Included
This 2020 example is in very good used condition, showing only minor, largely intangible scratches consistent with light, careful wear — the case, bezel, and bracelet all present cleanly with no major blemishes.

Why This Reference Stands Out
The 126300 is the most accessible entry point into the current Datejust 41 collection and the most affordable current-production Datejust 41 to carry the modern Caliber 3235 movement, sitting as the steel sibling to the far more expensive fluted-bezel and two-tone DJ41 references. A black dial on the Jubilee bracelet is one of the most requested combinations in the line, offering Rolex’s signature 41mm dress-watch profile without the premium of gold accents — a smart entry point for collectors who want the modern Datejust silhouette at the most attainable price in the family.
